The Step Up programme provides life skills and education to children and youth who have fled conflict and violence during a humanitarian crisis. The programme runs in refugee camps or rural villages during the summer and winter holidays, offering children a safe, productive and stimulating environment.
The educational camps encourage children and youth to look after their personal health and well-being, improve their English, and develop vocational skills and creative interests that are not covered in school. Through our Peace Building programme, the youth explore, appreciate and value differences and diversity in their communities and beyond. The programme inspires youth to continue their education and be proactive in their communities.
The Step Up youth leadership programme offers practical training for youth. The programmes enables teens to develop leadership skills while volunteering with the Step Up Camps or Step Up Clubs. The leadership programme for both girls and boys emphasis youth empowerment and active involvement in the local community.
The Step Up programme works in partnership with local teachers, schools and NGO’s. Learning programmes are developed for each setting, together with local staff, to support the necessary priorities in each community. The programmes are run by Step Up international educators, local teachers and young volunteers.
All funds raised go directly to The Step Up programme. The international Step Up educators and staff members are all volunteers.
